The Texas Longhorns entered the 2024 season with the third-highest price tag of any SEC team, and their upcoming home games have risen in price after the team’s dominant win over Colorado State on Saturday.

Key Highlights:

  • Texas has seen ticket prices for next home game rise by 118%
  • Prices have increased for games against Florida (25%) and Georgia (15%) too.
  • The price for the neutral site game against Oklahoma has risen from $390 to $414

Texas will play on the road in Week 2, a premier matchup against Michigan in a battle of Top-10 teams. Their next home game will be played on September 14th against Louisiana-Monroe, and the get-in price for a single ticket has more than doubled since late July.

Back then, the price for the game was $33 for one seat, and ranked as one of the cheaper games on the schedule for the Longhorns. But with less than two weeks left before kickoff, that figure has risen all the way up to $72, a 118% increase.

Texas Has Seen Price Increases Across The Board

It is still one of the least-expensive games on Texas’ schedule, though, as price on essentially every game on their schedule has risen. The October 19th matchup against Georgia has seen a price hike from $319 to $368 (15%), and the cost for the game against Florida on November 9th has shot up from $155 to $194 (25%).

The Longhorns had a ranking of #4 in the AP and Coaches polls coming into the year, and they sit at #3 in the latter after the Week 2 rankings were released on Tuesday. The team’s potential mixed with the general popularity of football and the Longhorns in the state of Texas certainly drive prices, and the team has some star power that is attracting eyes.

Star Power Could Be A Factor In Price Hikes

Quarterback Quinn Ewers is a Heisman Trophy candidate, and showed why in his team’s rout of Colorado State. In just 2.5 quarters of action, Ewers threw for 260 yards and 3 touchdowns, but was pulled from action when Texas went up 38-0 midway through the third quarter.

His backup, while not nearly as accomplished yet, may be even more of an attraction. Arch Manning continued the family quarterbacking lineage in relief of Ewers on Saturday, throwing his first collegiate touchdown and rushing for another in the second half.

Manning completed 5 of his 6 passes and amassed 95 yards through the air.

The presence of the high-profile quarterbacks certainly helps to boost ticket prices for the Texas Longhorns. And should they come out with a victory over Michigan in Week 2, look for seats to home games in Austin to become even more expensive.
