Chinese brand Temu was the most downloaded online commerce app globally in 2024. According to the numbers presented by CasinoApps.com, Temu was downloaded 544.85 million times in the past year. Unsurprisingly, the list of most downloaded e-commerce apps is dominated by Chinese brands.
Shein in second spot with 235.03 million downloads
Temu was the fastest-growing e-commerce brand in 2024, following its recent launch in September 2022. Not only was Temu the most downloaded e-commerce app last year, but it blew the rest of the competition out of the water.
As per the data available on Statista, Temu registered 544.85 million downloads in 2024. Its closest competition was Shein, another Chinese e-commerce giant. In comparison, Shein managed just 235.03 million downloads on both app stores. Hence, Shein managed less than half of Temu’s download numbers.
Indian e-commerce brand Meesho took the third spot with 200.22 million downloads in 2024. Meanwhile, US giant Amazon could only manage the fourth spot with 166.61 million downloads. Nevertheless, Amazon continues to be the biggest online retailer in the world.
The next spot was taken by yet another Indian brand, Flipkart, with 155.77 million app downloads. It’s worth noticing that US retail giant Walmart owns a majority stake in Flipkart.
In the sixth spot, Singaporean company Shopee garnered 149.85 million downloads, followed by Argentinean online retailer MercadoLibre in the seventh, with 106.53 million downloads. Shopee has a strong presence in Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia and Malaysia, while MercadoLibre is the most popular online retailer in Latin America.
The next two spots are taken by the rather popular Chinese names Alibaba.com and AliExpress. The Alibaba Group owns both apps. Alibaba.com app was downloaded 95.11 million times, while AliExpress managed 93.82 million downloads.
Shopsy Shopping, an alternative online platform for Indian company Flipkart, took the last spot on the top ten list. Shopsy, which was launched in 2021, managed 83.89 million downloads last year.
