After conducting hours of research, we found that Instagram has the highest % of 1 star reviews compared to total reviews (21.05% or 1 in 5).

The Top 10 Social Apps With The Most Negative Reviews
As you can see below, INSTAGRAM tops the list by a long way with 21.05% of their reviews being just 1 star. Despite the bad reviews, the popular social app still has an overall rating of 3.9/5.
Coming in at just 4th on the list with 7.7%, WhatsApp Messenger was actually the most reviewed app of all combined with over 200 million.
Reddit Disappoints The Most Users With Outages Per Month
One thing that annoys social app users more than anything is when a platform goes down, and Reddit tops the list on that front.
Reddit users were disappointed more than any other app user according to the Ahrefs ‘Keyword Explorer’ tool. We assessed which app had the most people searching ‘is APP down’ and Reddit was the victor with 184,000 searches per month. See the full list below.
It is surprising that Reddit receives so many of these searches, as they had the lowest % of 1 star ratings in the last piece of data.
Meanwhile Telegram had a small amount of ‘Is APP down’ searches with just 700, despite being 2nd in the most complained about social apps data.
Methodology
To accumulate our list of the top 10 social apps with the highest percentage of negative reviews we used data from App Magic. These reviews consist of both the App Store and Google Play store combined. For an app to qualify, they had to have over 1 million reviews in total.
Alongside our App Magic data collection, we also used Ahrefs ‘Keyword Explorer’ tool and searched for which social app has the most searches (per month) for ‘is APP down’.

CasinoApps’ spokesperson Liam Solomon had his say on the findings: “We were surprised to find that Instagram had all of a sudden become the most complained about social app. Facebook had recently taken the crown in previous studies, so it was a shock to find they had been replaced with Instagram which is one of the most popular social apps on the market. X (formerly known as Twitter) was also surprisingly high on the list, and that could be something to do with Elon Musk’s purchase.”
