The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and DraftKings Inc. have come to terms on an agreement, which grants market access for DraftKings to begin retail sportsbook operations<\/a> at the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino beginning Aug. 28, 2024, pending licensure and regulatory approvals.<\/p>\n Upon launch, DraftKings Sportsbook mobile and retail operations will be available in 28 states along with Washington D.C. and Ontario, Canada.<\/p>\n \u201cLake of the Torches is excited to add retail sports betting to our property as a new gaming amenity for our valued guests to enjoy,\u201d Lake of the Torches Resort Casino CEO Bill Guelcher said.<\/p>\n \u201cOur goal is to implement sports betting operations with a strong brand recognition and extremely high-quality product performance, and we\u2019re honored to collaborate with DraftKings as an industry leader.\u201d<\/p>\n Furthermore, the Chippewa Indians will be the seventh tribe to launch sports betting in Wisconsin. Sports bettors 21 and older will have access to six DraftKings Sportsbook kiosks and one over-the-counter window on the casino floor.<\/p>\n \u201cDraftKings has established a great relationship with the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, and we can\u2019t wait to bring the DraftKings Sportsbook brand to Wisconsin,\u201d said Michael Kibort, VP of Retail Sportsbooks at DraftKings.<\/p>\n \u201cProviding a best-in-class customer experience has always been a top priority for our company and the opportunity to deliver that experience to customers in yet another state is a proud moment for DraftKings.\u201d<\/p>\n This latest announcement from DraftKings comes after Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and Native American tribes agreed on several compact amendments earlier this year. This led to the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians receiving federal approval for event wagering.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Amendment permits the Tribe to engage in event wagering and adds the Tribe\u2019s minimum internal control standards for sports betting, including rules governing events wagering,\u201d said a notice in the Federal Register<\/a>. \u201cThe Amendment also makes technical changes to update and correct various provisions of the compact.”<\/p>\n Additionally, the Lake of Torches Resort Casino features 800 slot machines and a variety of table games, live entertainment, and dining options.
