The Utah Utes had the fourth-most expensive get-in ticket price in the Big 12 entering the 2024 season. They came into the year as one of the favorites to win the conference, and are looking to make it three titles in four seasons, with quarterback Cameron Rising back in the lineup after missing the entirety of the previous campaign.

The hype is real and recognized. Utah entered the season ranked 12th in the AP poll, and they had one of the highest price tags for tickets to their home games. Back in July, the Utes had an average ticket cost of $82, which ranked fourth in their respective conference, with Colorado’s $142 leading the way.

But the numbers have changed drastically over the last six weeks, as the demand to see what could soon become a top-10 team play live has risen. Instead of $82, the average get-in price to see a game in Rice-Eccles Stadium now sits at $146, a rise of 78%.

The next couple of home games for Utah have more than doubled in price. Their September 7th matchup against Baylor was listed at $36 six weeks ago, but is now up to $85 as game day approaches. Two weeks later, they’ll host a game against Arizona that has a get-in figure of $145, which is a rise of 116%.

Colorado has seen a boost in their average seat price as well, which keeps their status as the most expensive tickets in the Big 12. But Oklahoma State and Kansas have seen measurable drops, which has allowed Utah to sneak into second pace on the list for priciest average.

The visiting Baylor Bears will have their hands full this weekend. They, like Utah, enjoyed a big win over a lesser-known school in Week 1, but find themselves listed as 14-point underdogs against the Utes for Saturday’s contest.

Should the home team come out victorious, don’t be surprised to see Utah vault into the top-10 nationally. They’ll close out the month of September by playing against Oklahoma State and Arizona, both of whom are currently top-20 teams.
